Budget Friendly Vacation Ideas
Summer is here! The kids are out of school and you’re ready to take a couple of days off of work and relax. The only problem is that money is a little tight. No worries! Below are 5 cheap vacation ideas fit for the entire family.
Go Camping
This can be as simple as setting up a tent in the backyard to renting a spot at a local park. Either way, tent rentals can be very inexpensive. You’re able to get out of the house and enjoy some fresh air.
Go to the Beach
If sleeping outdoors isn’t your thing, the beach can be another inexpensive option (if you live fairly close to the coast). Stop by the grocery store first to get snacks/lunch and you’ve got yourself a very cheap, fun time!
Weekend Getaway
Take a drive to a neighboring town or even the closest major city to you and explore! You can rent a hotel room or even an Airbnb for a night or two for as little as $35/night in some places. Do a quick google search of the top 10 things to do, ask locals once you get there, or just wing it.
Staycation
I’ll be honest, this is my favorite option! You can take time off of work and just relax at home. You can binge watch something on Netflix, play board games, or just lay in your bed and stare at the ceiling (no judgement). Just DO NOT do any housework. This is a staycation, not a day to clean up and do laundry.
Visit Family or Friends
It’s safe to say that almost all of us have family or friends that we haven’t seen in a long time just because of distance. Consider taking a trip to catch up with them and staying in their guestroom. You get to experience a new city without paying for a hotel. You can always repay your host by providing a meal.
Taking a vacation doesn’t have to break the budget. If you would like to spend more on a vacation, make sure to pay cash so you won’t have to add yet another thing to your debt count. Whatever you choose, remember to stay safe and have fun!
